I've just obsoleted a rain jacket and a wool jacket with this one item. Although it is not as good as a jacket with taped seams, and not as warm as a lined winter coat, it does both things reasonably well especially if you layer your clothes properly. There is enough room underneath for a base layer and even a down vest. I might be able to squeeze in a cycling shirt in there as well.

It looks fantastic, too! It attracts a fair bit of attention, but the styling is not garish (e.g. Bicycle Nerd Yellow) either. It is a sophisticated cut, that works for big boys (like me) too.
