The Meramac 2 Room is a free-standing tent that is great to take along on family camping trips when you want to separate the kids from the adults. It would also work great when you have two couples and want a little extra privacy. It sleeps up to six people with a divider in the center (so three people can fit on each side). We bought this tent to replace a 10x10 Coleman tent we had used in the past for a family of four, teenagers and adults. We compared it to the Eureka Sunrise and Coleman Popup series of tents. One deciding factor was the included rainfly and the fact the the sidewall mesh was not as large as the tent it replaced. Camping up north it gets rather cool at night (40s-50s) and the mesh side tents tend to get a bit too cool for us.

We've used this tent in four different campgrounds so far this summer and it has worked out well for us. It's not really a two room tent, but rather a large dome tent with a removable partition that hangs through the middle dividing the tent in half. Worked well for us providing enough privacy between the two halves. The tent also shipped with a loft mesh that we don't use as there are also two side pockets and a hook on the center top for a lantern.

Tent sets up quickly. We've always done this with two people and I'm not sure if one person could set it up alone, maybe with practice. The door and window on the opposite side of the door are split in half so when you have the partition up through the middle of the tent, you can ventilate and access each side without disturbing the other half of the tent.

Rainfly works well in the rain. We've been through a few rainstorms in this tent, one quite heavy, and only minimal amounts of water entered the tent. Less than I've seen with other tents in similar situations, but I did recently seem seal the tent to see if it will stay absolutely bone dry in the rain.

Our tent is brown on the bottom and grayish on the top half. Unlike the current photo, our windows and top halves of the doors have the same color material as the top part of the tent (gray). The rainfly is a light green. Looks better in the woods than the blue Coleman we used to use.

The pop-up Coleman tents looked convenient, but I was concerned that they would not be water-tight without purchasing the optional rainfly. We do use a pop-up Coleman screen tent and that goes up really fast with one person.

Our previous Coleman had a thicker material on the floor. This tent uses the same nylon on the floor as on the lower sides which is a bit heavier than the upper side material. As a result we use a 10x12 tarp under the tent at all times. The trap actually works out well as it lets us position the tent on the ground before setting it up. 10x12 is actually large for some campsites. This is car camping tent as the poles are very heavy, and I think weigh more than the tent itself.

The zippers are probably not as heavy as on the Eureka Sunrise, but so far no hangups or breakage. Might be an issue with younger children who tug hard on these things. There are two poles for the tent proper, and as another review pointed out these go trough pockets at the top, but there are three hanger hooks on each corner. The rainfly has three poles, one for the center and one for each side window, which allows you to keep the window open in the rain.

We do like that we can stand up in this tent. After decades of camping in small domes this seems like a luxury, but you get used to it pretty quick!
