I bought my original Blk Diamond Beta Light Tent in 2004 after researching light weight tents for 3 months. I bought a second identical tent this month. Since we already hike with hiking poles, this tent fit our needs in its weight and durability. As senior citizens my husband and I decided if we were to continue backpacking and bicycle touring we needed to lighten our loads. I've used this tent alone on week long cycling trips and have used it often with my husband back packing. It's easy for one person to put up and has withstood high winds, heavy rainstorms and ice cold nights. Even if you need to pack it up icy, when you set it up at your next destination it dries quickly and you're ready again for whatever comes. We bought a second tent because our grand daughter (age 11) and grand son (age 9) got hooked this year hiking with us in Glacier National Park and they want to backpack with full packs next summer. We decided carrying two separate tents rather than going to the 4 person tent made more sense to us. The tent fits 2 people and we can also fits our packs inside. I'm 5'6" and my husband is 6'. We also have always used it with the Beta Bug Tent - since it seems we either are gonna have bugs or possible rain on our adventures. My suggestions would to buy 2 tubes of seam sealer and run the tube twice down the seam to get good coverage. I went with one tube and needed to use the brush applicator to make sure I covered all of the seam - more work than just running the tubes down each seam twice. It is a bit tedious to apply but I have never had to go back and re-seal my original tent.
