3M Peltor Listen-Only Headset, MP3 and 2-Way Radio Compatible Review

I'm familiar with Peltor products. This headset has great hearing protection, one of the best I've used. But the "listen only" part leaves something to be desired. I bought these to use in my woodshop. There are times when I have repetitive work and like to listen to my mp3 player. I found 2 problems with these using for that purpose.

1. The cord is too short. When I plug them into my ipod and put the player in my back pocket, i'm constantly pulling the plug out

2. The volume is too low. I know, I know, you're supposed to keep the volume low, but when the ipod is on full volume, you can barely hear it in the headphones, regardless of whether the machinery is running or not.

Result, I bought a different pair of headphones for that purpose. I'll probably keep these around for hearing protection, but don't buy them if you intend to use them with an MP3 player. I even tried using them with an amplifier made for headphones, to no avail.
