I got this from Amazon on sale for $129.50 with free shipping. I'd call that a steal! (no pun intended) I've wanted this safe for a while, but I didn't think it was worth the normal $160-200 price. Here's why...

It's made in China, of course. The tolerance on mine was like 1/4". In other words, when I put it on the shelf, there's a 1/4" gap at the top-right side and the bottom-right is flush with the side of the shelf. I guess what do you expect being made in China, huh? There is other cheapness to it, including the crappy soft covering for the bottom, but you can easily replace that with nice foam rubber pieces from any craft store. The entire panel also can move, which makes it look lopsided, but you can move it into place and it should stay ok unless you go moving it again. You must also supply your own bolts and nuts for the shelf, and it only has one for each side, so it's not super stable, but it's good enough. And of course that whole front panel is plastic. But at $129.50+free ship, you can't beat it.

The keypad and entry is actually pretty nice. You can open it in the dark because it's backlit and you have to hit # first to activate the panel, so it's lit when you enter your first code. It has 2 backup keys, but also an external battery box just in case you lose the keys. I'm guessing it keeps your passkeys even if you lose power, but I haven't tested that.

As long as this lasts me many years, I'd say it's just fine for $129.50 with free ship. If you can get it for that and you're looking for a nice cheap safe, go for it. I know one thing though, if it was made in the USA, used all metal parts on the front and better quality overall, I'd definitely pay $200 for it.
