Messerschmitt 38mm Steel Case Aviator Watch ME262S Review

I have help to restore and build Me 262's and wanted something to commemorate my efforts with this revolutionary aircraft. This watch certainly fits the bill. The 38mm watch face spec may seem small to the current wave of giant timepieces but this watch fits my wrist perfectly. With my average wrist size, this watch sits with a nice low profile and comfortable feel on the wrist. I did not intend to keep the woven nylon strap and planned to replace it with a leather model. The high contrast white-on-black hands and numerals makes telling time effortless most of the time. When the hands are over the Me 262 profile at a time like 5:35 or 7:25, it takes a little longer to discern the hand positions over the corners of the 5 and 7. The hand widths are identical perhaps adding to the slight confusion. I would like to see the hour hand in a slightly wider profile than the hour hand.

The movement is fairly accurate and loses about 4 seconds per week.

After wearing this model for a month, I am very pleased with the feel of the watch. A surprise was the stock strap which I had planned to replace with a leather model. It does not stick to your skin like leather especially in elevated temperatures. Another surprise is that the strap actually extends under the watch case and sits between the watch and the skin. The result is that it raises the profile a little bit and makes the watch sits proud of your wrist. The whole piece look larger than it really is which is not a bad thing at all. The stainless steel case is a very hard wearing and has shown no scratches despite being bumped into a few door knobs. The crystal is incredibly flat and produces almost no unwanted reflections. Overall, a fine instrument.
