This is an initial review of Beurer PM 62. I have had the watch for a week and used it during several workouts thus far. As the title of my review would imply, this watch is not your Ironman HRM or even a Polar. It is certainly a bit more complicated in the button sequencing and can be downright infuriating to program if you are in a hurry to get the watch into action. However, there are many positives and not the least is the appearance. This watch looks good and feels good on my wrist. The caveat is, it may be a bit too large for thinnish men and many women. Another positive for me are the LED status lights on the right side of the display. Although it may be obvious to most, the lights are there to alert the wearer to in-zone/out-of-zone training moments. Although I thought they might be superfluous at first, I find myself pacing my workouts through the red and green lights. I know when I see a few green flashes, I need to start moving the body again to keep my heart rate up. The performance of the watch with the chest strap is excellent. The watch picks up the strap within seconds of placement and I have had zero instances of erroneous readings during my workouts. The calorie counter is fairly accurate and I was impressed with the Fitness Test, which provides the user feedback on their fitness level after a mile run. I have not had a chance to download my workouts to the PC or to utilize the fitness software as I am old enough to use a pencil and pad of paper to keep track of my performance, but the tool is available. Oh yeah, it's a serviceable watch with a pretty loud alarm. So, in summary-
POSITIVES
- Styling
- Feel on the wrist
- LED status lights
- Tremendous strap/watch interface
- Overall watch performance during workout
- Workout results are reasonably accurate
NEGATIVES
- Complicated set-up
- A little large for some women
- You do need a jeweler's tool to change the watch battery
I have had many a HRM watch, but the Beurer PM 62 has supplanted them all. Early days yet, but I am very impressed. If something changes, I will let you know.
