Deuter Futura Pro 34 SL (Emerald/Titan) Review

I bought this backpack 3 years ago for a three-week hiking trip from Portugal to Santiago de Compostela in northwest Spain. I am short (five-nothing), weigh 105 lbs, and cannot carry heavy loads.

This pack met all my needs:
+ Access--the outside and inside compartments made organizing easy. Cover flap has pockets for documents. Access to the bottom of the pack was great: I didn't have to unpack or do much rooting for items.
+ I used the latching straps to secure my fleece and hat outside the pack (and also secure some damp laundry items until they dried).
+ Loop for trekking poles--great when off the trails.
+ The air ventilation frame made a big difference: I hiked in the summer and suffered no discomfort.
+ I only used the rain cover once, during a light rain. But the cover came in handy on the plane--it tucked in the shoulder straps and hip belt and kept the pack nicely compact.

Will definitely use this on future hikes. (But will keep an eye out for newer models, in case there are significant modifications....)
