Native Eyewear Sprint Sun Glasses (Blue Reflex/Gray, Iron) Review
I bought these specifically for running. I needed something with interchangable lenses and at the time of my purchase (3/2011) they came with both the Blue Reflex lenses and the Sportflex lenses. I've got very light sensitive eyes and the reflex lenses (90% light reduction) are plenty dark for the brightest of days. The sportflex lenses are great when I run at dawn or dusk. They only reduce light by 40% and if I'm on a run that covers full transition from day to night I like that they reduce glare a little bit but don't cause me to be blind once the sun sets. They also work great for keeping all the bugs that come out at dusk from ending up in your eyes. Bonus: I've found the sportflex to be excellent for shooting at the gun range as well.I find the glasses to be good looking, but that aspect of sunglasses is so subjective I won't belabor it.
Changing lenses is easy, but not easy enough to consider doing while running. I do it fairly often and the interface surfaces between the lenses and the frame have held up well.
The frames and lenses have held up well overall, but these are not my toss-around everyday sunglasses. They are kept in their case and well cared for except during runs and at the range. Although they have lasted well under very tightly controlled use, I find that the sunglasses feel a bit cheap. They seem like they might not hold up to everyday wear and tear very well. I expect a bit more from $100+ sunglasses but Oakleys feel the same way so maybe I'm asking too much. However, mine have in fact held up well for two years so I can't knock them too much based on "feel". Still, that's the reason for 4 instead of 5 stars.
