This stand does have a number of plastic parts, and you aren't going to mistake it for a professional tool, but it does cost a lot less than those do. The two tines of the fork have some big gear teeth hidden in the base, so they open symmetrically to accommodate different axle lengths. It is adjustable everywhere you would need a truing stand to be adjustable. For side-to-side truing, you get a single knob which makes the two red fingers symmetrically open or close. For radial truing, you twist the barrel of the center finger to make the finger longer or shorter. The fingers are supported on an arm which can pivot up or down with plenty of friction to hold it in place, which accommodates different wheel diameters. Finally, if you want to adjust the "dish" of your wheel, you can, but it is more trouble than just turning a knob. The finger assembly on the end of the arm is held on by bolts going through slots, so you can loosen the bolts and slide the whole assembly laterally.

It has removable metal "teeth" on the ends of the plastic truing fingers so you can true a carbon wheel without scraping it up.

Overall I'm very happy with the purchase. I have successfully trued my rear wheel (with non-standard dish) after replacing two broken spokes, and the tool worked well.
